Water covers 70% of the earth's surface: 97.2% of water is found in salt form in seas and oceans and 2.8% is fresh water (2.1% in the form of ice and 0,7% in liquid form).
- 2.2 billion people do not have access to drinking water services.
- 4.2 billion people lack sanitation services.
Our water consumption
Water is the main constituent of the human body. An adult male is about 65% water, or 45 liters. Water performs multiple functions: it irrigates the tissues, allows digestion by dissolving food, ensures the body's thermal balance, allows the evacuation of waste ...
An individual loses on average 2 liters of water per day:
- 0.5 liters by perspiration and perspiration (diffusion of water vapor through the epidermis),
- 0.5 lites per breath,
- 1 liter by urine.
To compensate for these daily water losses, humans must absorb an average of 2 liters of water per day. In total, to drink and meet their hygiene needs (cooking, washing, washing, etc.), each person needs 20 to 50 liters of water per day.
Agriculture accounts for 70% of water withdrawals, it is the most consuming because of the irrigation of plantations and crops which continue to increase. Industries use 20% of water resources, mainly during manufacturing processes. And 10% are intended for home consumption.

To design a shampoo, several thousand liters of water are needed. Water is not only used in the manufacture of the product, manufacturers also use it in the manufacturing process, rinsing and cleaning machines. This water must be treated and purified and then stored in factories.
The future of water
A population that continues to grow, an agricultural and industrial sector that consumes more and more water… These are all reasons for the increase in water needs. To this is added global warming, causing worsening of water stress (greater evaporation, drop in groundwater levels, drying out of the soil).
Real awareness is therefore necessary on the part of everyone: better management of resources, more water-efficient irrigation techniques, less polluting manufacturing processes, efforts on the part of each household ...

The Yodi Awareness
Almost all cosmetic products are mostly made of water. It is used for its sensory to obtain formulas pleasant to use with a feeling of freshness.
In emulsions, it is mainly used as a solvent to dissolve the active ingredients and represents the aqueous phase. However, water does not have moisturizing properties by itself, it has no particular action on the skin, and it does not penetrate it. It is actually its association with humectant and moisturizing ingredients such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid as well as with the fatty substances contained in the fatty phase of the emulsions that will help to reconstitute the hydrolipidic barrier of the skin, but in no case the water.
In liquid shampoos and cleansers, water represents more than 80%. So for a shampoo of 250ml = 200ml of water.
In France, 174 million liquid shampoos are sold each year, or 34,800 tons of water in total, to which is added the water used in the manufacturing process.
At Yodi, we made the decision to develop products without water!
They are transformed with the water used in the shower or in front of the sink. Why is this better? Because we avoid wasting water. Water that must be purified, stored in factories, and transported to the merchant and then to the consumer.
Indeed, when a formula contains water, it is necessary to add preservatives to protect it, emulsifiers for the texture, additives... Additionally, Yodi products do not contain controversial ingredients, listed allergens, animal ingredients, silicones, and sulfates.
Are you going to cut back on your water consumption and switch to Yodi products?
